The teen is a father who had just returned from a weekend surfing trip with his parents.
“It’s just been a little bit of a shock,” he told 7.30.
He said he had been targeted by the trolls, but that the harassment was mostly verbal.
“I’ve been doing things like that in the wild, so there’s nothing really to be concerned about, I guess,” he said.
“But I have been contacted by some girls in the comments on my Instagram photos and messages, and that has been really bad.”
The boy said the threats had also been made to his mother.
“They’ve asked me to stop the posts, or to delete the pictures, or delete my account,” he added.
“And I’ve been asked to remove some of the comments that have been made.”
The teen said the bullying had also caused him to feel ashamed.
“The messages are really hurtful and mean to me,” he explained.
“You just feel that you need to put it behind you and be more aware of what is going on and what you are doing, because it can affect you in a way that is very negative.”
He said it had also led him to take on the role of a “virtual escort” in the past.
“That’s just something I’ve done for a living, but I just don’t know if I’m going to be able to do it anymore,” he admitted.
The boy also said that he had stopped going surfing and had been planning to do a lot of solo surfing, but was now thinking about a career in modelling.
He described his “lifestyle” as “bubbly and fun”, and said he did not plan on going surfing again.
“No, not yet,” he replied.
“In fact I’ve said no for two weeks.”
He added that he was trying to keep a positive outlook on his life.
“There’s a lot going on right now, but at the same time it’s a good time to relax and take a break from it,” he reassured.
“Just be yourself, be yourself and just relax, you know?
And just enjoy it and enjoy the sunshine.”
